Electro-Acupuncture

What is Electro-Acupuncture?

Electro-acupuncture involves attaching leads to the acupuncture needles in order to send current to the acupuncture point. Most research studies employ electro-acupuncture due to the ease in managing and measuring the stimulation.

Benefits of Electro-Acupuncture

Electro-acupuncture is widely accepted across many medical disciplines. It has been used to help manage conditions such as chronic pain, paralysis, muscle spasms and more.

What to expect

The patient experiences a tingling sensation at the lead site. The patient should feel no pain. If pain does persist the patient is instructed to alert the practitioner and the practitioner adjusts the technique to fit the tolerance of the patient. Patients who have electrical appendages or a pacemaker should not use electro-acupuncture.
